NCV Test

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) is a diagnostic test that measures the speed and strength of electrical signals as they travel along the nerves in the body. During the procedure, electrodes are placed on the skin at specific points, and a small electrical impulse is applied. The time it takes for the impulse to travel between electrodes is recorded, providing critical information about nerve health. NCV is often used to diagnose nerve disorders, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and sciatica, by assessing nerve damage, dysfunction, or compression. This non-invasive test aids in pinpointing the location and severity of nerve-related issues, guiding treatment decisions and promoting improved patient care.

During the test, electrodes are placed on the skin at specific points, and small electrical impulses are delivered to assess nerve conduction.

NCV tests are considered safe and do not pose any significant risks or involve radiation exposure.

In most cases, there are no significant restrictions, and patients can resume their usual activities immediately after the test.

NCV tests are typically recommended for individuals with symptoms or signs of nerve-related issues. Your doctor will determine if you need an NCV test based on your specific circumstances.
